Please, please help - unable to save PDF files in ConkerorHi,
When I follow a link that returns a PDF file, how can I make Conkeror FORGET ALL ABOUT ACROBAT and just offer to save the file? (running "conkeror.mozdev.org conkeror 0.9" on ubuntu linux.) Background: Half the time when I try to view a PDF file in Conkeror I get a blank screen, because of some bad interaction with Acrobat Reader. I've spent many hours trying to debug this, reinstalling Acrobat etc., and I can't solve it. So for a month now, there have been PDF files that I simply cannot view or save under Conkeror, because - If I try "s 0" on the blank tab where the PDF file should be showing, Conkeror crashes. - If I go back to the parent page and, instead of following the link that returned the PDF file, I try to save it with "s", I get results ONLY if the PDF file is stored in a URL and the server is willing to divulge the URL. In many situations (downloading an article from a subscription-only journal, or making a barcoded FedEx mailing label), the server creates the PDF file dynamically when you follow the link. If you try "s NN" instead of "f NN" (where NN is the link number) you get "call interactively: Error: invalid load-spec". So, to avoid all this mess, I'd just like to make Conkeror forget the acrobat plugin. Googling "conkeror file associations" revealed nothing. Using nautilus to change the default utility for opening pdf files had no effect on conkeror. Click its button „Disable“ Please report if this works. Although the procedure is easy, I also think this should be better documented. You can write in the conkeror wiki about this using the keywords you searched for before, for instance. -- Daniel _______________________________________________ Conkeror mailing list Conkeror@... https://www.mozdev.org/mailman/listinfo/conkeror |
