Please correct my (horrible) OE trans

Hello!
I am trying to translate the wonderful words of W.H. Auden:  "Thousands have lived without love, not one without water."  This is what I have so far.  Blanks represent what I think are missing words.  Sorry it is so horrible.  Thanks in advance for any and all help.
