Hello All,

I'm looking for a stamp that I can use on the back of 4X6 photographs so I can use them as postcards.  Can someone please recommend a source?

Thank You,

Marilyn

Yes, that would be nice.  I used to use Kodak postcard paper and print
them in the darkroom, but, um, not lately.  Looking forward to hearing if
someplace sells a stock stamp (one could get a custom one made at any
rubber stamp place, but a stock one would probably be a lot cheaper).

Found this online. It is a three piece rubber stamp set. I assume it comes in pieces so you can vary the size of your postcard.

Hope it helps. Could give you the idea of what you need and you could probably oder at a local place that makes rubber stamps.

Why bother? If you are printing the photos why not print the reverse side of the stock photo paper or card you use with a label, address, or whatever, to your own design.

Rubber stamps can smudge and can look crude.

The back of the paper isn't coated, so who knows with any given printer
whether you can print on it decently or not?  And it's a much bigger pain
to fire up the computer and printer and run something through than it is
to just hit the back of a card with a stamp.

> Rubber stamps can smudge and can look crude.

If you're sloppy, sure.  But is it important?

The real question might be "why not just write the address and message on
there and stick on a stamp", without doing anything else?

Have you ever seen one at any of those places? I haven't.  If your
suggestion is based on general "this is a place to buy rubber stamps"
rather than specific knowledge that they have such a stamp, I think
putting it out there is worse than useless; it encourages people to waste
their time, thinking they're acting on useful advice.

I don't see a postcard stamp there either under rubber stamps or under
postcards.  Is there one there that I'm missing?

No.  But there are stick-on postcard backs, which at least eliminate
the inkjet paper brand stamp on the back of most inkjet papers.

But generally I find just about every product from photographer's
edge to be very unprofessional.

The Office Max stores in my area take orders for custom stamps.  I have ordered stamps, "Photography by Bob Sull",  "QSL de W8IMO",   "The next meeting of ---------------"  with good results.

Back in the "Copy Max" centers.........

With a custom made stamp you can design it the way you want and that can be less crude.

My wife and daughter and grand daughter are in to rubber stamping for a hobby.  My wife and grand daughter just told me that there is waterproof ink that drys quickly.....

Including in the stamp pad, yes :-).  Well, they've probably improved it
again.  I used a version in the 1980s, and another one in the mid 1990s,
so there's time for another improvement.  What I found actually was that
it doesn't stick to the stamp well, leaving weak imprints or else blobs
from along the sides getting on the paper.  But the current formulation
may well be better than what I had.

It worse than that. Printing on the back of gloss  RC paper can't be done with dye or pigment inkjets. You also can't print with dye or pigment on the back of commercial (scenic)postcards
Roy.

Rather than printing on the print back itself, I bet you could easily design and print on a label. They come in lots of sizes and then just stick it on the back of your print.
