Primordial Blooms: Recent Prints by Eni Sibal
April 19 to-May 23, 2007, Stairway Gallery, Kamuning, Quezon City
Primordial Blooms presents Eni Sibal's explorations on the parallelism
between printmaking and gardening through the use of pressed flower
techniques. Her recent works are crafted by integrating traditional
and contemporary printmaking processes specifically digital and
collagraph print techniques. Finely crafted and exquisitely designed,
her prints foreground her fascination with flower arranging and
gardening; synthesis and repetition. Through juxtaposition and
layering of various floral motifs, Eni creates a collection of prints
that exhibit a compositional harmony reflective of her deep sense of
inner tranquility and penchant for detail. Eni explains that "the
synthesis achieved by combining two differently produced (digital and
intaglio) print of the same image results in a richer and more dynamic
monoprint in terms of its composition." An emerging printmaker, Eni
Sibal is a graduate of the University of the Philippines Diliman
College of Fine Arts. Primordial Blooms, her first one woman
exhibition, opens on the 19th of April 2007 at the Stairway Gallery,
Kamuning, Quezon City. The show will run until the 21st of May 2007.
