Hi all,

We have been using Jameleon on several of our development machines for some time without problems. Now one of my new developers is unable to run Jameleon on his machine:

Jameleon home 'jameleon.home' is set incorrectly or Jameleon could not be located

Does anyone have any ideas why we get this?
Setting jameleon.home has no effect.

Platform: WinXP
Version: jameleon-test-suite-3.3-RC1
Java Version: java version "1.6.0_14"

Thanks for any help,

Simon

Can you please explain the setup on the developer's machine? For example, does he have Jameleon installed in a single place like C:\Java\Jameleon-3.3-RC1 and then have several test suites installed somewhere else? Or he just using a the test-suite directory that includes the Jameleon install with it?
Where is the test-suite/jameleon installed on your machine vs the developer's machine?
Does his script set -Djameleon.home anywhere in the command line that starts Jameleon?

Regards,
Christian

Thanks Christian,

You helped to point me in the right direction. After installing jameleon in a top level directory it was possible to start the GUI without an error message. On closer examination I found that my colleague had used a directory name with a german Umlaut in it.

I tried it on my machine with the same effect - simply use a special character such as "ä" in the name

F:\Projects\jämeleon test suite>java -Xmx128m -Xms64m -jar lib\jameleon-launcher.jar
Jameleon home 'jameleon.home' is set incorrectly or Jameleon could not be located

Note that the spaces in the directory name are not a problem (just a test)

Bottom line: If you have special (non ascii) characters in your directory name it may not be possible to start jameleon.
Remedy: rename the directory to use only ascii characters.

Thanks for your help.

Simon
