Problem with mc-4.6.1p1.tgz

There seems to be a problem with this version of mc. We having two machines
in the shop:

1) OpenBSD Apollo.omnitec.net 4.1 GENERIC#1435 i386
mc-4.6.1p1.tgz
2) OpenBSD db.omnitec.net 4.1 GENERIC#1435 i386
mc-4.6.1p0.tgz

MC is choking on machine 1 with:

Warning; Cannot change to directory . . .

but runs just fine on machine 2.

Is the solution to reverse the patch, or ??
