Problem with stellarium-mac-0.10.2-3 on 10.6 x86-64

Hello all,

Here's the result of fink --version:
Package manager version: 0.29.10
Distribution version: selfupdate-rsync Thu Nov  5 13:18:10 2009, 10.6, x86_64 .

I'm on a MacBook 2008 with an Intel Core2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 2 GB of RAM,
and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB Vram graphics chip.

When I launch stellalrium-mac I get a white screen for a while, then I
get a flickering screen. The flickering is back and forth between what
stellarium-mac should look like and something else. The first time I
launched it, it showed bits of Keynote.app style previews. The next
time, it was just colorful static. My guess is that there seems to be
a bug in the drawing code where it's accessing either the wrong memory
or just uninitialialized memory. I have no idea if this is happening
in main RAM or the VRAM.

I guess this is one of those where it's going to have to be passed up
the chain to the main project...

Thanks,
Sean

There seems to be something wrong with qt4-mac on x86_64. Both
stellarium-mac and mp3diags-mac, which both previously worked fine,
now crash in qt_init(). The -x11 variants still work fine. I thought
maybe qt4-mac had been updated, but I see that it hasn't been changed
since 9/1. But my packages haven't changed either so I don't know
what's causing them to crash now.

I'd be interested to know if stellarium-mac and mp3diags-mac work on
other platforms and if anyone else is having crashes with qt4-mac stuff.

Daniel

Daniel,
On 10.5 PPC there's something wrong with the Stellarium-mac splash
screen, but once the app loads it works fine. (I can confirm that on
10.6 64-bit it fails to display properly.)

The 10.5 PPC Stellarium-x11 also has a funky splash screen and the
controls on the window are, umm, just past the edge of the screen but
still accessible. That is, in full screen mode I can see enough of the
control to invoke it, but it continues past the screen. When I'm not
in full screen mode I can see all of the control. It looks like I'm
running X11-2.4.0_beta4 (xorg-server 1.5.3-apple14). I'll check for
updates and let you know if there's any difference.

FYI, it's about the same (on 10.5 PPC) after rebuilding with
X11-2.4.0. I also notice that the location setting window has problems
(the cities don't scroll correctly) and other little weirdnesses with
the GUI.

Also, you've probably found this already, but this is from All Messages
in Console.app (on 10.6 64-bit stellarium-mac). I figure that the "just
leaking" stuff at the end is a bad sign:

This leaking is from qt4-mac (stellarium itself doesn't have any Cocoa
code), but isn't likely to be causing the visual problems.
