Problem with xpath

Hi all!
I have defined an xpath for a button defined with a span tag in a jsp,
so i've used the clickElement tag to click it
but i'm getting this sort of error with the xpath: Element type
"clickElement" must be followed by either attribute
specifications, ">quot; or "/>".

Please help
