Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionSorry for the giant text but for those of you too lazy to read there is a short summary at the bottom.
I just played a match with a friend using the cut out cards and we both agree that the game is a little unbalanced. When my opponent used Magmon with the Vile Driver none of my guys could beat him. I assumed that at the end of battle life heals all the way back to max so because of this I couldn't stop him. I used many tactics such as lowering his stats but nothing I did could allow me to win the match. The closest I got to winning was bringing Magmon down to 10 energy, but since life goes back to max at the end of a fight all the Mugic I used to bring him so low was wasted. This got me thinking, if Magmon can do this much damage, what could Maxxor do. Maxxor has good high and balanced stats and the elements of Fire and Earth and 3 Mugic and an incredible 70 energy with the ability to heal himself. Before you tell me it's possible to beat him, I agree, but only with someone like Chaor. If say Laarina or Rellim fought him, who do you think would win? Another thing I noticed is that creatures like Frafdo who have no elements have no chance a creature similar but with elements. For the longest time my Frafdo was using attacks that do 5 dmg and attacks that do nothing because of elemental requirements. As I've seen a question like this a while ago, some people are most going to respond the same way such as lower their stats and what not but creatures like Frafdo can't (currently) lower stats because they all require elements. And something like using Song of Focus to boost your own stats, your opponent just uses Song of Treachery in response. My solutions to this, although some of you may not like it, would be to give every single creature at least one element and to leave the Energy after battle as is. Truthfully, does anyone think that a Frafdo and a Hearring 2 on 1 could beat a Maxxor. Frafdo takes Maxxor down to 20 with Song of Embernova (Mugician's Lyre) and a Canon of Casualty (Hearring) and a lot of other attacks but Maxxor is just too much. Hearring vs Maxxor, if Maxxor was still at 20 life Hearring would have a definate chance at winning but nope, Maxxor is now at 70 Energy and Hearring dies because he can't even use elemental attack and there is nothing but elemental attacks in the player's hand because of other creatures he had. Summary: Every creature should have at least one element and energy shold stay the same after each match. |

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionits not a problem and any creature can be beaten with a good strategy. to fight using creatures with no elements use attacks that either have a large base damage like viper lash which does 15 or use ones that have a check or challenge and use stat lowering mugic, attacks, even some locations.
and maxxor is a creature i've been through many fights against in many scenarios including: w/mugic,w/o mugic, w/ battle gear,w/o battle gear, and many different combinations like that, i've only lost to a maxxor like 3 times and beaten him like 12 Genesis : the begining of the end |

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionA magmon is quite easy to beat as long as you know what your doing as opposed to hoping that you get the right cards. For instance, try playing to his weaknesses, or attacking when you have an advantage (strong attack cards in hand, or a good location).
Magmon's has two prominent weaknesses, firstly is his Recklessness. Overworld cards with high courage such as Tartarek or Frafdo can easily beat magmon with assistance with song of resurgence or simply using evaporize. Then dealing heavy damage with attacks such as Skeletal strike, shadow strike, sleepsting (for for tartarek), and power pulse (for frafdo), and simply outlast him. Magmon's other large weakness is that he has very generalized stats. All of his stats don't go over 70, with glaring weaknesses in speed and wisdom. You can deal alot of consistant damage by stacking your deck with challenging moves that assist your creatures (the demo attack decks are a little... off and I pefer to make custom ones). One strategy that I use to take out opposing Magmons (This probally won't work if your using the print out cards since you have a limited amount of cards, as opposed to the online demo where its much easier to mix and match cards. An easy solution is to print out another set of cards so both players has the option to use cards from both tribes.) Is by simply putting Solvis in your backline, and waiting for your opponent to waste most of his offensive/healing mugic (ie. resurgence, casuality) then retaliating with a flurry of blows from your solvis behind your line as so: Solvis with a mugician's lyre, 2 canons of casualities and solvis's special ability. This deals a total of 50 damage in 1 shot, then we simply let magmon attack and kill himself with his own recklessness. Note: this strat wont work as well as long as your opponent is holding 2 casualities since that would bring down Solvis by bursting. As for Maxxor, they've signifiantly reduced his stats. He now has a base of 60 energy (though I believe its possible to find a 70 energy maxxor if your lucky), his speed was reduced to around 60, most of his stats received a 5-10 reduction (short of his courage, which got increased I believe). His special ability now only heals 15 energy instead of 20, and he cannot be in mixed tribes (signifiantly reducing his usability and flexibily greatly). So I assume that the developers of Chaotic also rounded out other heavy hitters as to make the game more fair. Strategy is buying a bottle of fine wine when you take a lady out for dinner. Tactics is getting her to drink it.

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opiniontheres a major problem with some of your theories, they all have the character attacking without the opponent but in a burst, which i presume your talking about, you and your opponenet take turns laying down cards. so most likely your opponenet has the same chance of killing you as you do it, theres is better if you dont have it setup as a perfect kill.

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionwell thats why its better to utilize this strategy on your 2nt or 3rd battle, well after Your opponent's wasted his casualies or something of that like or better yet, in response to his mugic. Course it works best right before your own turn so if your magmon is packing a laarina far back (for resurgences) then you have effective time to have your Tartarek strike with a skeletal strike or any other strong move.
Likewise I find a Magmon's ability to deal damage very erratic (Once when using a Magmon in a 6v6, I drew no fire elemental attacks for 5 or so turns.. it was quite annoying), and its stats disallow it to deal signifiant damage with challenging attacks. Strategy is buying a bottle of fine wine when you take a lady out for dinner. Tactics is getting her to drink it.

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionit really depends on how you setup your game, most people who play underworld decks will use mostly fire attacks because most of them have fire element and maybe a few of them have earth im not sure but maybe 2 or 3 of them have air.

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionI see your point Takinom289, and as I always thought it'd be good for the energy to stay the way it is I agree with that point. I also agree about the elements because sometimes it would just look right, for example Tartarek, why doesn't he have the water element? It would seem that if a lobster gets the element so should a turtle. But then again, I don't think every creature should have an element, someone like H'earring doesn't seem to suit any element.
The main reason I like the Energy thing is that the unplayable creatures may actually be played. Honestly, why would a player use Laarina or Deenha when they can use Tangath Toborn or Maxxor? Unless there is some sort of Build limit to decks then there would be no point in using the weaker creatures, especially those who can't cast the main elemental attacks of the deck. For example, Pocketkoi (not specifically you, just an example deck that you may have made), you said that you didn't get any fire cards for your Magmon for five turns, that must mean that you were using either a second element or attacks without elements so that your elementless creatures could attack. If you didn't have any of the non-fire attacks (besides the ones you need to fill your attack deck) you would've had a much easier time getting the attacks you actually needed. Simple solution to not liking the elementless creatures, don't use them and just use creatures with the elements that you like. ![]() |

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opiniontheres a difference between living in an element and the discipline, discipline means what they trained really hard in to earn it. if you think in a game it's like a mage trying REALLY hard to increase his ability in an element usually you would train in 1-2 elements because the more points you put in the more damage they do but the more spread out the points are the weaker everything is.

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionI have a problem with the game play as well but I cant realy see the prob with yours, you can give a creature elements by giving them sertain battlegear or mugic, mine is the fact that the book says nothing about DRAWs, I am overworlder Relem attacking underworlder Skithia, Relem has Torent Krinth on Relem and my friend has Prisom of vacuity. energys start at R=55 S=45 I used the only 2 attacks that would do any dammage from my hand as well as the only damaging mugic in the overworld deck, my friend used his only damaging attack and mugic, we were left with 25 energy's each, I looked in the rule book and it says nothing about draws, aparently someone is always sopose to die and in this case it is imposible, nither of us have any moves left. Have we missed something? What the heck is up with a game that can get stuck like this? It's DEAD!

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionIf you run out of attacks just reshuffle your attack discard pile and put them back. Then you continue to draw and play. Simple. Also, it does state this in the rulebook somewhere.

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionNot that our attack decks were empty it was the first turn active player has 3 attacks in hand and non active has 2 and we got to a point in the first battle that nither had died, and all attack cards in hand and all castable mugic was used and discarded. It states in the book that battle only ends after a creature dies and says nowhere that you can continue to drawor not so we were stuck in a draw. I'm sorry if I worded it wrongly last time to make you think we ran out of cards in the deck.

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionWell, at the beginning of each players turn, they draw a card. So, for the player with Initiative in the battle, he'll start off with 2 attacks in hand and then start the turn by drawing an attack. That player will then attack. If nothing besides the attack occurs the other player draws an attack card and then attacks. This process continues until one of the creatures are defeated, leaving both players with 2 attacks in hand by that time. The same thing will occur every battle that is fought. Hopefully this is the answer you were looking for.

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinionOH! I did missread the rules it sounded to me like a full turn ends after the first player with initiotive ends it and the next player then has initiotive then and only then can they draw again.... thats probly not legible... anyway thanks for the help I thaught that there was a large flaw in the way that the game was made XP, and I hope that I helped about the mugic and the battlegear changing elements... blah blah blah... lol thanks again

Re: Problems in Chaotic, in my opinioni think that you r wrong, because attacks like rustoxic can deal 20 damage if your creature has earth and???another ability, add that with mugik:song of embernova and an extra 20 damage and if you have song of recovery, use it when you need to restore ur own energy if u have location cards that give ur creatures a battle advantage, bonus!!! if u equip an underworlder with viledriver, u can take out maxxor hard, even with one of the weakest underworlders ni the game!!!
