I just posted to the gphoto email list but thought I'd check in here to see if anyone is having the same problems I am running gphoto on a slug.
I'm working on a setup similar to this guy:
http://webuser.fh-furtwangen.de/~dersch/gphoto/remote.htmlI have a slug with Unslung 6.10 and gphoto2.4.1, talking to a Canon A520.
I'm running in interval capture mode like so:
gphoto2 --camera Canon PowerShot A520 (PTP mode) --port usb:
--capture-image -F 0 -I 10
It works pretty well most of the time. It takes the pic, with usually
about 7 sec. to spare before the next capture.
Occasionally, however, it will hang up long enough to fall behind 8 or
9 sec. or so, and take a couple captures to catch back up. And
eventually, within a few hundred captures (it varies), it will time
out trying to talk to the camera, and produce an "unspecified error."
I've tested gphoto2.4.1 running on an old pentium 4 against this same
camera, and despite a long delay when initializing, it's rock-solid:
it's been capturing images every 10 sec. for months straight without
*ever* falling behind. Over this period, it consistently produces
8640 images a day, give or take one image.
The slug is overclocked to 266Mhz and is using an
8GB thumb drive for a disk. I've disabled swap, but there
usually seems to be ample spare memory. The load average hovers very
close to 1.0.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
