Problems with reconciling after large QIF importI imported a large amount of data from Quicken 2005. When I tried to
reconcile one of the accounts, I could not edit some of the transactions. I needed to remove a split from one transaction and change the amount, and add a split and change the amount on the other. Even though neither were marked Cleared or Reconciled, and I had not finished the reconciliation, KMM would not save the transactions. The only active button on the ledger window was "Cancel", and when I tried to select another transaction, the "Cancel Transaction Edit" dialog came up. Clicking "No" would not save the transaction - I had to cancel and lose my changes to continue using KMM. This is my first reconciliation after the import. How can I update the transactions? I compiled from CVS using the code available on August 10 (0.9.3). Is there an easy way to determine the CVS revision in my working copy? The problem exists with the anonymized copy; I will forward that to the dev list. The opening balance for the account in question is in the QIF, but was not imported; in addition, there are numerous erroneous imports - at a glance, some transactions with no source (I may have deleted the account a long time ago in Quicken) were assigned to my primary checking account. Thinking "out loud" here, I can probably work around that by making a "phantom checking" account, and transferring those transactions from "real" checking to phantom, and then close the phantom account. I do not see an option to delete the transaction source and keep the destination. I do > not see an option to delete the transaction source and keep the > destination. Keep in mind, that you can only close an account with a balance of 0. So that might not be an option. The problem why you cannot save the transaction is that the posting date for the transaction is before the opening date of the account (which might have been picked up wrong from the import). Once you correct that in the account dialog you should be able to modify transactions. It would be nice, if you can send me some fragments of your QIF file. An interesting part would be the opening balance transaction and maybe the first real transaction of the A000139 account. Please feel free to send it to me via private e-mail and if necessary encrypt it using GPG. -- Regards Thomas Baumgart GPG-FP: E55E D592 F45F 116B 8429 4F99 9C59 DB40 B75D D3BA ------------------------------------------------------------- What is mind? Minor point - but is the opening balance transaction really not present, or is it just not shown due to the filter of not showing transactions before a specified date? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial. The missing opening balances are on 2 credit card accounts; on one, the first transaction is correct - there is just no "Opening Balance" transaction for that account (which was 0). For the other, the OB is missing, and it was non-zero. I was able to modify the opening date for the 2nd, and I added the opening balance. The current balance appears much closer to reality. > > > in addition, there are numerous erroneous imports - at a > > glance, some transactions with no source (I may have > deleted the account > > a long time ago in Quicken) were assigned to my primary checking > > account. > > Can you check the information in the QIF source? The account opening date was set to 100 years after the opening balance in Quicken (2044 instead of 1944, so it appears that the non-Y2K-compliant data in the QIF caused a problem. > > It would be nice, if you can send me some fragments of your > QIF file. Does the opening balance show up when you edit the account data? If not, delete the manually created transaction and simply add the value into the field in the account edit dialog. Make sure to use the right sign. This is just to avoid further problems with that opening balance. It could influence the reporting side of things. > > > in addition, there are numerous erroneous imports - at a > > > glance, some transactions with no source (I may have > > > > deleted the account > > > > > a long time ago in Quicken) were assigned to my primary checking > > > account. > > > > Can you check the information in the QIF source?
