Program won't startHi, I use Suse 11.1 (KDE 4) and until a week ago I used Kmymoney
0.9something. Then I had serious xorg problems and to solve them I had to bring the computer to the shop. The shop guy solved the problems, but in doing so he part updated, part reinstalled the system and so I found out that some programs disappeared altogether, others are in older versions, some are as before. When I rebooted at home, I started Kmymoney from the desktop icon as usual (the same icon was where it was before). When it started, the program looked different. It was version 0.8!! So Kmymoney was one of the downgraded programs. Notice, all my movements and accounts were still there. I tried inserting a new cash movement to see if it worked anyway and when tried to save got the message "this version uses a different file format for the database so if you want to keep using previous versions of Kmymoney back up your files" or something like this. I didn't save, exited, went to Yast and saw that there was available a version of Kmymoney that was more recent than 0.8. I installed it and made a copy of the file I had opened last, just to be on the safe side. I thought I had solved the problem but I was wrong. When I started Kmymoney after the new installation I got the right splash screen (the 0.9 version, the one I was used to) but the program won't start at all. No error messages, no blank screens, nothing. After the splash screen it simply does nothing. (same if i start from the desktop icon or the applications panel) The packages that are installed, if I look for Kmymoney in Yast, are: kmymoney 0.9.3-42.pm.1 kmymoney-lang 0.9.3-42.pm.1 libkmm_kdchart0 0.9.3-42.pm.1 libkmm_mymoney5 0.9.3-42.pm.1 libkmm_plugin0 0.9.3-42.pm.1 Am I missing something? Is there a Kmymoney log anywhere to see what's going wrong? Did I mess something up when I made the copy of the database? (I didn't move the file, I just copied it giving it a different name) Shouldn't it open an empty file, if it can't open the last used file? I'm at a loss... Re: Program won't startHello Elena,
try starting KMyMoney with this command: "kmymoney -n" That will start KMyMoney without opening a file. Then try to open your file and see how it goes. Regards, Alvaro

That should give you some log information. -- Regards Thomas Baumgart GPG-FP: E55E D592 F45F 116B 8429 4F99 9C59 DB40 B75D D3BA ------------------------------------------------------------- "Hey!
