Pulling data from remote volume to local machine using Time Machine

Hi!

I am looking into mounting an external AFP volume on a local machine  
and have Time Machine backing up the remote data.
Is there a way for Time Machine to treat this a local volume and  
backing up this remote volume?

For different reasons I can't set the external machine to use Time  
Machine to push the data to the local machine.
I would therefore prefer to pull the data from the remote machine,  
rather than push data from the remote to the local machine.
