Pythoncad as supporting 2D addonFriends; Taking the discussion on from the issue tracker : https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2808246&group_id=263167&atid=1128790 Few of us have idea of having pythoncad as 2D editor blender(or other 3D software) My dream for PythonCAD is if there is 3D-CAD which supports python scripting (like Blender) then: 1 Blender user should be able to open a PythonCAD from within blender. 2 Create 2D drawing in PythonCAD. 3 Once the 2D cadding is done user moves to blender by closing pythoncad window. 4 Blender prompts for 3 points (origin, + 2points to defing the plane). 5 Drawing created in PytonCAD is now imported in the user defined plane. We do have a developer on board who have worked on blender hope we can make some progress here. Any views are welcome, Thank you in advance Yagnesh Desai _______________________________________________ PythonCAD mailing list PythonCAD@... http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/pythoncad |

PythonCAD should remain focused on 2D until completeInteresting suggestions on 3D, embedding, etc. -- but
there is so much work to do just to make a decent 2D CAD
tool!
Look at the feature request list on the
Wiki:
After
basic 2D functionality is complete, it would be nice to have a better
user-interface with toolbar, right-click menus and more information about what's
happening being displayed.
AutoCAD has an old, poor user interface. I'd like to see a
modern, well thought out UI, perhaps like Vectorworks.
What
CAD packages have user interfaces that you admire?

Re: PythonCAD should remain focused on 2D until completeFriends hold your horses. . . (I wanted people to gear up for X'mas and plan some decent R38 alfa release. deadlines do help) Idea well taken. I Agree that PythonCAD is not yet the bet 2D CAD tool. Not even near to QCAD. I am not telling make PythonCAD an AutoCAD look alike Just few "similar" tools can be made available in PythonCAD so that we can get more users who can look at it. Now that we are at sourceforge we must now use issuetraker for better focused development. We can populate all the requests on Wiki to sourceforge and monitor them well there. We still use existing wiki hosted by our friend for current documentation needs. Regards Yagnesh Desai Save a tree : Think before printing this email.
