Quanta+ on Windows

Hi all,
I'm wondering if it's possible to run Quanta+ on windows. I use it for my
everyday work on a linux box, but for some reason I have to work also on a
windows machine.

I've already installed KDE on windows (http://windows.kde.org/), but I can't
play whith Quanta+ :(

Any hints? Or it's just impossible?

Gabriele,

If I was you, and I'm not, but if I was, I would use Dreamweaver.  It beats pretty much any editing software hands down in the development game.

I know it probably won't help, it's just my opinion.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread though, I'm just as interested as you are to run Quanta on Windows.

Talk to you soon,

Karl

Dreamweaver is a touch more expensive than Quanta! When I first
converted to Linux a couple of years ago I used to switch back to
Windows for most of my web development work, thinking my trusty
Dreamweaver could not be beaten. Then I discovered Quanta.  Whilst I
would not try to pretend that Quanta is better than Dreamweaver in all
respects, it is certainly more stable. I find Dreamweavers FTP is
terrible (I often had to run a separate ftp along side Dreamweaver to
stop it from crashing).

I now very rarely boot into Windows at all.

Long live Quanta+

I think part of the problem might be that Quanta doesn't have a version
for KDE 4.x [ KDE for Windows is KDE 4.x ] as of yet. Using the KDE for
Windows installer as a package manager won't find Quanta in it's repos.
There doesn't seem to be any mechanism to install a tar ball, or from
source, in Kde for Windows. If/When Quanta has a version for KDE 4.x and
it becomes a part of Kdewebdev it should be possible. Until
then.............

I ran into the same problem an have found, for me at least, a
solution. I created a VMWare image running Ubuntu with Quanta+, even
managed to get cervisa to work as an addon. Have some MySQL tools as
well. My laptop is Windows and it needs to stay that way for numerous
reasons, but the VMWare image allows me to run Quanta+ on a Windows
machine. Not exactly native, but good enough for my needs. Once it is
made it runs quite happily under VMWare Player which is a free
download. Also have Firefox installed in it and I think I have Firebug
etc installed (not positive if I finished that part).

Just a note that there is free WMWare alternative out there:

Thanx for your hint, but I prefer to spend my money supporting open
source project, rather than buying closed source buggy software.
