Quanta and Debian Testing - Squeeze

HI
I am using Debian Squeeze, because yes I want the latest apps versions, but I was surprised to see that Quanta is not available 'yet'  I realise that this is a testing distrib so no complaints and I can manage OK with Kate but I still miss  my favorite web editing program.
I gather its a KDE issue not quite ready yet for Squeeze...

Does anybody have any update on this situation, what we can expect time wise before this gets to work ??

Or is there a way to get it working now  :-)

Before distributions can pack the application it has to be written :D
Quanta4 isn't finished yet.

You have to stick with Quanta3. Don't know if debian still has it in
the repository.

However if you do Php development you can use KDevelop4 Beta + Php
langauge support.

I kept my Debian unstable at KDE 3.5.9/3.5.10 to keep my KDE 3.5.X apps,
but others have installed Quanta 3.5.9 and dependencies under KDE 4.X
and have been able to use Quanta 3.5.9 under KDE 4.X.

I usually use aptitude to experiment with packages and dependencies so
that I can install what I want without having other stuff removed that I
don't want removed.

Regards,

Arthur.

Thanks Arthur
Thanks for the info.
I just did something along those lines :
Switched  my  sources list back to Lenny, installed Quanta 3.5  and reverted back again to Squeeze.
Worked a charm, absolute magic!

Have great day
Philip

This is getting off-top for this list but you can have stable, testing
and unstable listed in /etc/apt/sources.list and set preferences for
them so that you can select and download packages from any of stable,
testing and unstable (or Lenny, Squeeze and Sid).

Arthur.

Arthur.

Yes I agree, but often things are related, in this case OS version and Application..

This thread is solved for me thanks again

Hi!

Philip and Arthur, big thanks to both of you!

I use debian squeeze/sid AMD64 and KDE4.2.2 for 2 months.
All I needed was Quanta and thankful your instruction I HAVE!

Have a great day too!

Waldemar
