Question about Evolution Win32 Port and ExchangeHi,
I understand that the Evolution port is still beta, or maybe alpha code, and doesn't support everything but is HTTPS support for Exchange supposed to work yet? The only thing I can think of for not supporting it is a message in the readme file that says: "POP (and presumably IMAP) mailboxes using non-default port numbers don't work. Evolution tries to create a folder for the mailbox that has a colon in the name, which is not possible on Windows. This will be fixed eventually." I suppose HTTPS (443) could be non-default since it's not port 80?. Or maybe the issue is that I'm logging in incorrectly. I tried various ways but for my OWA URL I have: https://exchange-server/exchange/ and my username that I'm typing is in the form of "domain\username" which is also what the OWA client wants from my browser. Any ideas? Thanks, Devin Smith Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security? I don't remember if this has was tested or not. I don't have an Exchange server accessible to test against here at home (from where I work), and the Exchange support was tested only briefly last December when I visited the Evolution maintainers in Bangalore. It seemed to work then, but I don't recall if it used https or http. I guess I should set up an Exchange server in a vmware virtual machine. Hopefully it will run well enough for testing in a smallish virtual machine... > I suppose HTTPS (443) could be non-default since it's not port 80?. 443 is the default port for https. > Or > maybe the issue is that I'm logging in incorrectly. Any ideas? As far as I know/recall, that is how it should work. It works fine under Linux, under win 32 (2.8.0 or 2.6.5) any https OWA it says it can not connect to the server any ideas? -ck ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Re: Question about Evolution Win32 Port and ExchangeHi,
I have installed debian sarge in a VM with evolution 2.0 and the latest ubuntu desktop on a separate machine (evolution 2.8). On Windows I tried evolution 2.6 and 2.8, the two versions that were provided as an installer in the shellter project. So I confirm: a) that neither of the windows installations was able to connect to a exchange server, I tried 3 different of them. b) that all of the Linux installations connected, and still do connect, perfectly. Is any feedback needed ? Some tests to be performed ? Some logfiles to be sent ? thanks Darko P.S.: Evolution is a great tool. Not really. Evolution on Windows is not supported. If it works, great. If it doesn't, oh well. --tml ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash. Re: Question about Evolution Win32 Port andExchange
That is just too bad!
It seems to me to be a superior Outlook as it supports editing your contacts on the LDAP server and has Caldav calendar support. Everything to make yourself independent of Exchange. Unfortunately the Evolution-2.22.2-4.msi version from DIP Consultants does all but send SMTP with TLS, as our company provider requires. So I can not send e-mail with it. This prevents us from tossing Outlook for the moment for the Windows XP user, although the Linux users are quite happy. Oh well... Ferry
