Question re Changing Tempo

Windows XP
GNU Solfege 3.14.7
 
Can't seem to change the tempo   Default and Arpeggio in Preferences.
 
I am trying to slow the tempo.
 
I can enter changes but they don't occur.
 
Any suggestions?

I'll test 3.14.7 tonight, but I am surprised this does not work. Does
this happen in all exercises, or just some of them?
