QuickQuote not operational

Hi!

I've installed QuickQuote 0.7b4 (WinXP 5.1 SP2) but it doesn't seem
to do anything. I can access the extension settings etc., but when I
hit reply to a message, the reply has the same "old" settings (old
'>' quote symbols, old "before quotation text", etc.), despite having
defined new settings with QuickQuote...

Someone already reported this behaviour on the "feedback" page of
quickquote.mozdev.org. Does anyone know where this is coming from and
how to fix this?

I have Thunderbird version 1.0.2 (20050317)... perhaps I should
update to 1.0.7?

Thanks,
Eric.

Eric,

My understanding is this does *not* replace the 'Reply' toolbar icons.  Rather, when you select text within someone's message, right-click, then select 'Quote in Reply' or one of the other 'Quote...' options, then you will see the use of this extension.

I hope this helps,

Ron

Yeah, I guess that's the main thing: QuickQuote only works if you
select the text first...

That's a bit of a shame though, as QuickQuote offers a really nice
way to change the settings in your replies, so it would be handy to
offer this functionality also for "normal" replies (where you don't
select the text first)...

Perhaps the authors of QuickQuote could include this option into the
next release?... (it shouldn't be too hard, it'd simply be an option
saying: "when no text is selected, act as if the entire e-mail text
was selected, then do the processing")...

Apart from that, it works really well though! ;-)

Cheers,
Eric.

Oohps, this reply should have gone to the list...

(There should be a reply-to header in this list)

It does for me. Just selected the above, clicked reply in the toolbar,
and voila.

What doesn't work for me is nested quoting. I hope this can be fixed
eventually, as that is where the extension could become really useful.
