Hello!

I have the PPC [Apple - PowerBookG4 - 15", osx 10.4.11]

I ask
1. QuteCsound which version should I download?
2. which version of Csound?

Currently still use MacCsound 1.3 with Csound 5.08.

thanks,

e

I hope so, but I need to find a PPC machine in the lab, set it up and
build the release. I am not too sure when I will get round to doing it.

Hello list!

I installed Qute 0.4.1 and PowerBookG4 Csound 5.10 for PPC OS X 10.4.11 (as Victor Lazzarini had recommended to me) but during the program execution (run) I see:
- Continuous clips and clicks;
- Often the frontend quits unexpectedly (crash);
- The GUI (widgets) is slow in execution and
- If any window frontend is moved or modified during execution (run) that interrupts the smooth functioning of the algorithm - and I provided it uses much cpu.

…I ask
- What is the optimal configuration of Qute to avoid all this?
- Maybe it is better to start JackPilot?
- If so, what is the configuration to be written to run on Qute JackPilot?
- Qute probably still does not work well with PPC?

Thank you,
hello

Hi Enrico,

I would think the problem is the version of QuteCsound. The latest
versions are much better, but no one has built them for PPC. You can
build the latest QuteCsound for PPC for Csound 5.10 yourself (It's not
too hard and I can walk you through) if you want. You just need a
little patience and to download a lot of stuff, but once you've got
everything setup, you won't depend on releases as you can build the
program yourself from the latest sources.

Cheers,
Andres

Hi Andres,

Can you please also give me the details to build qutecsound on PPC. I
would like to get it running on my G5. I am still running 5.0.9 and
MacCsound.

Hi,

You first need to get XCode from apple (Make sure you get a version for PPC):
http://developer.apple.com/technology/xcode.html

Then get Qt from:
http://qt.nokia.com/downloads
and install it.

You will also need he libsndfile sources from:
http://www.mega-nerd.com/libsndfile/#Download

Get the qutecsound sources from the QuteCsound page (look for a .tar.gz package)

Now to build, you first need to build libsndfile:
open a terminal an using cd go to the directory where libsndfile is. Type:
./configure
make
sudo make install

Then in the terminal go to the directory of the qutecsound sources
src/ directory and type
qmake

This will generate an XCode project which you can open with XCode.
Once in XCode, press the build button (or the build and run button).

You will now have QuteCsound in the bin/ directory of the QuteCsound sources.

There's probably some step I am missing, so let me know if you get stuck.

Cheers,
Andrés

Get the qutecsound sources from the QuteCsound page (look for a .tar.gz package)

Now to build, you first need to build libsndfile:
open a terminal an using cd go to the directory where libsndfile is. Type:
./configure
make
sudo make install

Then in the terminal go to the directory of the qutecsound sources
src/ directory and type
qmake

This will generate an XCode project which you can open with XCode.
Once in XCode, press the build button (or the build and run button).

You will now have QuteCsound in the bin/ directory of the QuteCsound sources.

There's probably some step I am missing, so let me know if you get stuck.

hi Andrés.

I have some questions:

1. Xcode is included with every Mac in the directory: '/ Applications / Installers / AppXcode Tools. The file is: XcodeTools.mpkg?

2. for Qt: what is the download that I have to do?
a. Qt SDK: Complete Development Environment [Download Qt SDK for Mac (442 Mb)] ... or
b. Qt: Framework Only [Download Qt library 4.5 for Mac (132 Mb)]

3. for mac libsndfile what is the version in page: # http://www.mega-nerd.com/libsndfile/ Download
Perhaps this: "Source code as a. tar.gz: libsndfile-1.0.20.tar.gz and (GPG signature)"?

4. what is the link as sources of qutecsound from the QuteCsound page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/qutecsound/files/?
Perhaps this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/qutecsound/files/QuteCsound/0.4.1/qutecsound-0.4.1-src.tar.gz/download?

thanks,

e

It should work with any Csound > 5.00
You don't need to install QuteCsound if you are going to build it, but
you do need Qt >= 4.4

Hi,

I'm making the osx10.4 builds for intel macs. Now, I tried to make a
10.4 ppc build, but I can't check if it is working, because I'm on a
intel machine.
Here are my 2 ppc builds (one incl. QT, the other without). Could you
ppc-user check if they are working? If yes, please give me reply so we
can upload them to sourceforge then.

Best,
Alex

yes that is the latest (I really should put up a newer one...), but
you will save a lot of trouble if you try the packages Alex just
