Welcome to the Arkansas Rare Bird Alert for October 18, 2009, sponsored by the Audubon Society of Central Arkansas (ASCA). ASCA meets at 7:00pm the second Thursday of each month at the John Gould Fletcher Library, located at 823 Buchanan St. on the corner of Buchanan and H Streets in Little Rock. From around the state recent sightings are:
Inca Doves have been seen in trees behind the Agricultural Museum in Scott.
At Lake Dardanelle Dam, two Franklin's Gulls were roosting on the sand amidst Ring-billed Gulls.
At the Texarkana Welcome Center on I-30, 2 adult Black-bellied Whistling Ducks with about a dozen very small chicks were spotted at the pond.
