Welcome to the Arkansas Rare Bird Alert for October 26, 2009, sponsored by the Audubon Society of Central Arkansas (ASCA). ASCA meets at 7:00pm the second Thursday of each month at the John Gould Fletcher Library, located at 823 Buchanan St. on the corner of Buchanan and H Streets in Little Rock. From around the state recent sightings are:
A Say’s Phoebe is being seen at the home of Joe D. Pattie,16405 Hwy 7 North,Lead Hill, AR 72644. It is approximately 17.7 miles from Harrison. It takes about 30 minutes on a crooked highway. The bird was ID’d by Esta Lee Pattie.
A Rock Wren is reported in the rip rock along the dam about 1/2 mile east of the marina at Millwood State Park.
A Neotropic Cormorant is reported at a farm pond on the northern third of Winfrey Valley road in SE Washington Co. (CR 110 south of Sunset).
A Plegadis Ibis has been seen at Centerton State Fish Hatchery in Northwest Arkansas.
