Mina,
Not talking about if I agree or not with oracle law suit but I think Google made their own Java with Android, I don't think there was much contribution to the other original Java going on.
I hope I'm not saying anything stupid.

Sorry for interrupting but your question makes me feel like the java is
dead. I just wana say my opinion about it. Oracle is a monster company i agree
but they are not stupid, they are looking for accelerating the ROI of Sun
investment (7.2B) they made by collecting all available resources from here
and there and this fight is one of this resources. but both companies will
continue develop for java because they already depend on it, both of them have
tons of code written and depend on Java and JVM. but sadly, this will slow
down the progress of innovation done by JCP and OpenJDK. lets hope this will
not effect java community.
