The issue has been fixed according to Jira, but I didn't see an update for the plugin in 8.0.1. I was able to find a work around by downloading the EAP version 9572, zipping up the plugin/Groovy directory and moving it the 8.0.1 plugin directory. Intellij feels 'fragile' to me...not tolerant of ANY changes.
