I made similar commits to customer. And been let down sweat/hurt. Especially after driving development fruitfully for 2 years and then blessed by being booted off project.
Does this mean trails is bad? Absolutely not. Moreso mgt...
Trails 1.0, 1.1 is a toy. Not for commercial usage. I see no lazy support or post redirect features and detached collections are broke.
Best bet is get to 1.2 asap. I am using it now and happy to coach you to the best stable running base.
If you already built your database, then you are special... and the first to pioneer the first actual trails data migration.
Don't give up...
