Dear Gregg,

My name is Peter McFarland & I live in Woodacre CA. in Marin Co.  I am a Sr.
Disaster Recovery Specialist/Architect specializing in data replication,
data center planning/implementation, second site or co-location disaster
recovery exercises & system recovery automation.  I am also a Sr. Systems
Software Engineer (Systems Programming) specializing in IBM Mainframes
(z/OS) & IBM p/Series (AIX) platforms.  I also have over 15 years of
experience as a CIO, Technical Services Manager and Project Manager.

I also specialize in Storage Architecture with IBM, EMC, HDS, & StorageTek
storage sub-systems & data replication: GDPS, PPRC Metro Mirror & Global
Mirror, HyperSwap, SRDF/A, Time-Finder, & Oracle Data Guard to name a few.

I have over 10 years of experience in the development, administration,
maintenance, & testing of corporate disaster recovery plans.  I have over 30
years of technical expertise in many areas of IT infrastructure
administration & operations.  Working with IBM I have learned industry best
practices & standards such as RUP & ITIL.  While at IBM I was taught the
Resiliency Architecture Design method (RAD) which is a proven methodology to
identify, research, gather, & analyze the appropriate data to develop
multiple IT infrastructure recovery processes & recommendations (options).

Working with the IBM Business Continuance & Resiliency Services team (BCRS),
I was required to work in a remote team environment & independently, travel
to client sites across the USA for RAD engagements that included disaster
recovery planning & execution & contribute on a 100% effort as well as be
flexible, dedicated to the clients needs, self-motivated, & results
oriented.

Recently I posed a question on you blob to address a client's need to
migrate from a MP2003 running OS/390 V1.3 to a z9-BC and upgrading to z/OS.
I wanted to know if there was any individual in your group that has done
such a jump in mainframe hardware & software.  They also want it done in 50
hours,,, one giant leap for this client in such a short time.

Your thoughts & can you or someone help of offer some ICAP?

Thank you,
Peter M. McFarland

Subject: [H390-VM] New member requests and greetings

Hello!
I bring you greetings. And an unusual request.
For only new members who've joined within the past month and eight days--
And have not presented a reason why they are interested in participating in
this group.

Current members need not worry.

For those of you who have joined and did not realize that to join this group
you are supposed to place a message to the individuals or individual who's
job it is to confirm that function as to why this is a good idea I am
requesting that they should do so, directly.

I have sent off messages to each of you directly. And they went unanswered.
I then decided to approve that membership and see what happens. Either
please respond or please consider presenting via the list interface a brief
statement regarding who you are and what your interests are as they relate
to the group description.

There are reasons why this is so, and again there are reasons why our group
is here, it is because of this that I am making this request.

Again current members need not worry, and new members who have done so.
