How does one become a contributor/committer for Facelets?

I was expecting a "stable" release to appear in Jan/Feb and haven't upgraded

I can see no activity on facelets' dev page, there has been no update since
1.1.12 draft on december 2006. Jacob, could you kindly provide some info
about development plans, milestones, schedules etc. for Facelets? If you
think that there is such a need to make things rolling, maybe you need more
contributors for this great project?
