Don't be discouraged, best way to learn is by reading/comparing/doing
yourself, not asking. Regarding courses I think that you can expect them to
contribute max 10% to your education, the rest 90% must come from your own
interest, curiosity, experimenting etc.

In the academic world it is probably common to attend different classes just
to get points (and never ever use that knowledge again), that is a special
case but you said you were employed.
