Radio playback

Hi,

I'm using Freeview in the UK, where we have radio as well as TV
channels carried over DVB-T. Recording one of these channels on MythTV
and attempting to play it back using mvpmc (nightly build from 16th
September) works OK for a few minutes, after which it ceases to
produce any sound.

The playback progress indicator (pressing OK) still shows it
progressing through the recording!

I've had the same happen using both the MythTV 'watch recordings'
option and playing back the recording directly from the file system.

Any thoughts?

What does the log file say?  Turn on myth debug and post the logfile.

I've had the same trouble with ts files with no video in the mux for
several years.  I've posted a few links to files (AC3 here) but there
hasn't been any development of this.  Because I added DVB and QAM
digital radio support to the GBPVR interface and I am liking how it
works on the PC and remote PCH, I was going to go back on the code and
see if I can remux these streams to audio in mvpmc rather than video
to avoid the timing and PCR issues that happen with video.  I was
going to do it last weekend but my local git was out of date and the
mvpmc.org troubles prevented

Looks like a mythbackend issue, with this error "request block failed".

What happens when you add -M to the command line?

What does the mythbackend log file look like?  Enable network debug options at least on the mythbackend -v network.

Mike

I'll investigate further. However, the same symptoms occur when just
playing the file over an NFS connection, i.e. without the involvement
of the backend.

Interestingly you get no errors at all when the NFS playback stops.

It ceases playback with no further messages. However, the progress
indicator shows that it does continue to advance through the recording
- even pressing 1..9 or skip forward/back has the expected effect on
the progress indicator, it's just that no more sound comes out of the
device unless you stop playback of the file and restart it.
