Unfortunately, not all cameras store the focus distance in their
exif. For example for Canon EOS (20D ,300D, 350D, 5D, Digital Rebel XT,
1D, 1Ds) see,

always show 0.
Maybe it is still hidden somewhere in the makernote ...
