There is no good reason for having 1) compiled-in. The initiative
to talk to PA in order to claim a device is taken by Jack. It could
just load a plugin to do this, iff configured to do it.
I'll repeat this: if dbus becomes a dependency for Jack, I will
fork Jack. And maybe introduce incompatible changes - once the
first step is taken there's little reason to avoid that, and
there are good reasons to do it. The funds to do this have been
set aside - I'd just prefer to use them for something else.
