Hi Corneel,
You may want to check out Semantic Bundle - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Semantic_Bundle.

If you want to go the commercial route - Ontoprise also has SMW+, either as a VMWare image (this is the one I recommend should you want to go with SMW+) or the XAMPP-based Windows distro with an installer.

Hope this helps,
Joel

Guys,

I have started dabbling with Semantic Wikis but I am unsure which
version Mediawiki and which version of the extensions should I install.

Does somebody have a list of versions of MW and extensions that work
together well that you can share?

Thanks

To answer the original question: the only relevant extensions that I know about that have specific issues with MediaWiki are ParserFunctions (not actually SMW-related, but it's in Semantic Bundle, and I know you were having problems with it before), and the SMW+ extensions, which, as far as I know, currently require their own slightly-modified version of MediaWiki 1.13. All other SMW-related extensions should work with all versions of MediaWiki from the earliest one they support (usually 1.11, but you can check the mediawiki.org page for each) to the current SVN version (1.16 alpha).

I could be wrong about any of this, though; anyone should feel free to correct me.

I think Yaron is right: most extensions have very little dependencies on
MediaWiki. SMW usually supports a range of MWs explicitly (see INSTALL or the
page "Installation" on our website), but we often find that it works with
newer versions without changes (although this may not have been tested yet).
It is generally recommended to use recent versions of MediaWiki to make sure
that all security fixes are up-to-date.

Various "Semantic" extension do have some close dependencies to SMW, and it
can be important to follow their installation notes regarding the SMW version
that is given there.
