Joe,
  I am replying to the dev list as this is off-topic for the users
list.  I am ready to help out with the docs.  If you guys want to start
with some basic write-ups I can polish them, and write examples.  Also,
what are we doing to the format of the docs?  Have we decided on how we
are going to handle versioning, etc.?

If you sync to https://svn.directwebremoting.org/docdwr/trunk/ and then take a look in docs/web/dwr you should see all the docs.

Editing rules:
- All links must be relative
- Please keep to the same format style as the html around you
- Please keep the HTML very very simple. For the most part p/h1/h2/h3/a/strong/pre/code are all the tags that you should need.

This is all very experimental, so lets see how we get on.

I'm working on a templating thing that will create some menus/breadcrumbs/etc.

Joe.

Joe,
   I sync'd and took a quick look.  As a side note the eclipse classpath
file is complaining of some jars in the export dir not existing which is
preventing the project from compiling.  Not sure if they are necessary
or not.

Thanks - classpath fixed.
You will need Drapgen checked out too because we're using Drapgen's FileSystem walker code.
Joe.

I donno If this is the right place to post my query, yet am posting.
Am using DWR 3 rc1 in our chat Application and it runs on Jetty 6.1.5.
When the chat comes in, We load the chat in SWT Browser Component.  When there are mutliple interactions, each chat interaction will be loaded in tabs of SWT Browser.

I need
 -> one DWR Connection in the SWT Browser to keep the user available for chat.
 -> one connection for each chat.

The problem is,
I can keep the user available for chat and the connection is using Comet mode.
once the chat connection is established, The DWR connection  to maintain the availability will be killed (with dwr.engine.setActiveReverseAjax(false);) and the connection for sending and receiving the messages will be maintained in Comet mode. Once the Chat is over, the Window (SWT Browser tab) will be unloaded. On unload again I am killing the reverse ajax(using dwr.engine.setActiveReverseAjax(false);)

When the next chat comes, The connection will be maintained in Polling mode

The 3rd chat is going on Piggy back mode.

I just dont understand why this is happening!

- >Does DWR have any limitations that there cant be more than 1 DWR connection in a browser?

( I noticed the same thing happen in Firefox also with a small difference.First one in Comet,next simultaneous chats in Polling mode but never in piggy back. It goes wrong with FF only with simultaneous connections.)

- > Is SWT Browser a supported environment for DWR to run?
- > Do I need more configuration for this to work? What am I missing?

Any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance.

heres in my web.xml

<servlet>
  <servlet-name>dwr-invoker</servlet-name>
  <servlet-class>org.directwebremoting.servlet.DwrServlet</servlet-class>
  <init-param>
    <param-name>activeReverseAjaxEnabled</param-name>  <!-- Enables Comet -->
    <param-value>true</param-value>
  </init-param>

  <init-param>
    <param-name>crossDomainSessionSecurity</param-name>  <!-- Cross-domain security -->
    <param-value>false</param-value>
  </init-param>

                <init-param>
          <param-name>maxWaitAfterWrite</param-name>
          <param-value>-1</param-value>
        </init-param>

<init-param>
    <param-name>allowScriptTagRemoting</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
  </init-param>

I tried with  <init-param>
          <param-name>maxWaitAfterWrite</param-name>
          <param-value>500</param-value>
        </init-param>

also in my web.xml. but not sure why this happens! Why the modes are getting changed like that !!
