I agree.

I vote for "Better Builds with Maven". You can get successful builds
from something really unmanageable, and we aren't really delving
"inside" Maven.

I agree 2.0 should be out of the title, but think it should be in the
subtitle or a short writeoff to avoid confusion.

How about

"Better Builds with Maven"
Your Guide to Maven 2.0

Exactly! This is definitely true and everyone knows it... :-)

More seriously, it means that Maven is a powerful but complex beast. Same as
you could talk about Taming Java. It doesn't mean that Java is not a nice
language. So we're only showing that we understand that using Maven can be a
complex and daunting task.

Also it has the nice meaning that we will really go into the depth of Maven
as opposed to only scratching the surface and at the end of the journey you
will feel that you control Maven and not the other way around...

It's also a little fun title. I like it.

I don't like these too much but let's choose the main title first. Also, we
don't have to have a subtitle. If we have one I'd prefer something like
"Successful builds with Maven", etc.

Thanks

+1

and  -10 on Taming Maven...

As this is a Mergere doc, I will really need to stress that we don't want to introduce a product to those NOT already familiar to it in such a negative light...

The proposed main title for the book is "Better Builds with Maven"

Then for subtitles, following are the options:

A/The Developer's Handbook for Maven 2.0
A/The Build Handbook for Maven 2.0
The  Maven 2.0 Build Guide/Guidebook
A/The Maven 2.0 Builder's Notebook
The How to Guide for Maven 2.0

Please provide your vote before the end of the week (11/18/05) so we
can finalize * as we are doing a press release and formal announcement
around the book, and other projects * the PR firm requires a finalized
release and complete information well in advance of the announcement
date * which is 01/09/06

Thank you in advance.

My preference is:

The How-To Guide for Maven 2.0

Since:

> A/The Developer's Handbook for Maven 2.0

Maven isn't just for developers.

> A/The Build Handbook for Maven 2.0
> The  Maven 2.0 Build Guide/Guidebook

We already have a title with the word 'Build(s)', so these are redundant.

> A/The Maven 2.0 Builder's Notebook

Builder isn't a well-defined role in many projects, IMO.
