I think this is fine. If you can handle the PPC merge...
Another alternative is on AIX to use Harmony and implement a Jikes RVM
Harmony thread DLL.

I have BK's work merged with the trunk but it fails pre-commit tests
for reasons that should be fairly easy to clean up. This has been on
hold for the PNT work to get merged. Of course getting PNT merged has
been an ongoing saga. The work on the PNT branch is sporadic - it
doesn't seem fair to merge it into the trunk to force other people to
clean the code up.
