The rear wheel on the left side of the bike at the end of the drive shaft. There is a round aluminum gearbox on the left side of the bike that the rear wheel attachs to. There are 3 plugs on it. The one on top is the vent, the one on the bottom is the drain and the one about half way up the back side of it is the level check plug. When it is removed, the fluid level should be to the bottom of the threads. It takes a special oil. It is 80W90 Gear Oil with a rating of GL or better.
You should probably invest in a Clymers service manual for the bike. They can be found on EBay for a reasonable price and they contain a lot of useful information.
