It is not meant to deride the SI system, it is meant to deride the reason
that drive manufacturers use it.

Just marketing psychologist know to sell twenty dollar items for $19.99 (!)
they know that your average consumer is more likely to buy a 500 GB drive
than a 465 GiB drive.
