I am sorry it has been about a month since this thread
started so I am very late, but since all the tag readers ultimately
end in a computer, why not investigate getting it to spill its
soul. I know it is not as exciting as building neat interfaces,
but a given dairy could have ten different styles of RFID tags
and it wouldn't involve the testers buying so much as one
resistor. It would be a matter of maybe installing a piece of
software on the existing computer to gather all the ID's in
whatever form does the job.
