Thanx, Erik. I've integrated this.
You're correct that the 'About' dialogue is a mess. It entangles formatting and text and is generally terrible for translation. It's on my list of things to improve, though I'll confess it's not at the top of my list.
I also found the problem with the system dialogs. It was a stray space, of all things.. (sigh)
Here's one of the advanced filter screen in 1.4.2. Cancel is translated, "Nuke" is not.
In the process of making the language auto-select for more people, I kind of broke it in 1.4.3. Notice that the system part of the dialogs ("cancel") aren't translated:
Now that I've fixed the problem, we have the best of both worlds and the added bonus if your improved translation to German.
Hungarian and Italian will still look like approximately the middle example as we have translations for OUR stuff for those languages, but Qt itself doesn't ship with translations of those languages yet. (Hungarian is in 4.8.0, but we're with 4.7.4 for now.)
Because the changes are so extremely low risk and apparently not that many people actually notice (from about 50K downloads, you and one other person reported it) I'm seriously considering being slightly evil and going a silent revision of 1.4.3 to benefit those users before the major upheaval I plan for the next release which is going to take a while.

I've been surprised at how little interest we've had in translation
issues during the betas and even releases.
Well, I guess that will change, now that the OS-language is chosen automatically :-)
I've left some HTML in the About dialog untranslated, mainly legal stuff (GPL..) since I'm not sure about the implications.
The .ts file is attached...
Sorry I sent the mail to your private address before.
