There is a way to pass IP, gateway, etc. at boot time (consult the live-initramfs documentation) but that should not help, because to get the cluster to work you would just be passing the same information that the server provides. Sorry, but I'm out of ideas here - I was hoping the multiple NIC thing was the problem.
