Re: EF1000is Spark Arrestor Causing Oil To Burn????
Thanks for the reply!
The icing happened a few years ago. I wasn't running the gem at the time so I don't know all the details. I do know it blew out a crank seal. We always run it untill it runs out of gas no short cycling around here. The gen lives at our remote cabin near Fairbanks, AK. In the winter we usually need to warm the gen up next to the stove before it will start. It starts pretty well down to 0 degrees F. I always put a cardboard box around the gen in cold weather to stop the icing. The box wasn't being used when it froze up and blew the seal. I thought I read about a heated vent tube kit but that maybe for the hondas.
We don't have ethanol fuel up here. Not draining the carb never seems to cause any issues on any of our machines.
I used the gen last week and the oil burning was very bad. Then the arrestor clogged to where the engine would barely run. Then I removed arrestors and the gen runs much better and doesn't blow blue smoke.
Anybody use any products to decarbonise the engine? I was thinking of running some Techron and or doing a Seafoam treatment.
Thanks
