Precompiled versions are matters for your distribution provider. I
deduce you are probably using ubuntu maverick or debian stable. One way
to proceed is to update your ubuntu version, or persuade canonical to
upgrade efax-gtk for maverick or debian to update the version for
debian stable. You could also try the version provided by debian
unstable, but if you using debian stable it may not work (keep the old
version to reinstall in case not).
