That was the only rpm I removed (it took kde-settings-pulseaudio
with it).

I also found for SDL based games you need to unset the
SDL_AUDIODRIVER environment variable (or remove the
/etc/profile.d/SDL_pulseaudio_hack.* files).

So far, those two things have done it for me.
