Dear Mr. Gootee and Mr. Stoddart. Yes Dragon has been integrated into several bots before, and sometime in the past year an individual has used a bot to help visitors with navigation of Social Security rules and regulations. His email is here in pandorabots. Be sure to use Dragon version 10, it is significantly better than prior versions, esp. with regional accents. Generally everyone agrees it is the best. As an alternative, Google has an Iphone applet that is a voice command input for general search and GPS maps too. Check to see if the applet is available in PC version. Also for you Mac lovers, OSX uses a modified version of Dragon for its voice command capabilities; I would assume the new ‘Snow Leopard’ also has the newer version of dragon. Apple sees voice command largely replacing the mouse in some applications. Commercial application of voice command has started to pop up like mushrooms in the past 6 months. Also know as Speech to Text (STT) and Text to Speech (TTS) you can search here and at the avatar / social networking sites (e.g. Second Life) for utilities and shareware code. Although it is proprietary, Rollo Carpenter’s Jabberwacky has some very advanced voice & Avatar interface features. He is also working on emotional empathy for his bots. He also has a batch import capability that can take advantage of Q&A forums or databases like the new ‘Superbot 2’ over at Alice land. I am keenly interested in these issues myself but am not yet in a position to implement. Otherwise I be happy to give you all code examples myself. Also look at a California company called “Siri” They claim that this fall they will have a fully conversational AI “Personal Assistant” Bot / agent. I think you will be pleased with all the choices now available; the technology is in a rapid growth period.

Hi,
I am doing a PhD researching the use of AI and the acceptance of AI by clinicians and the public.
Youtr 'hobby' sounds really interesting and is the sort of thing i am interested in.
My own Alice is simply a demonstration model, and have had voice recognition through MS Windows working which is relatively easy, but the issue is it is definitely not as accurate as D&D.
I am also an ICT person so I will investigate but I dont think it would be hard simply right click on the properties of the Flash player and add the microphone.
The one thing I did find when discussing things with my AI is that it also picked up its own voice on the microphone and this create a bit of reiteration if you know what i mean.
Would you mind keeping in touch with me as to how you go. Again I am researching the 'human interaction' side of things and am not trying to compete or copy so you do not have to worry about IP.

Subject: [pandorabots-general] New website idea
Hi everyone,
I have been interested in Pandorabot for some time and have finally come up with a project that I have been working through for a while.
I am a disabled vet and I have many of my veteran buddys at the VA that I have been toying with the idea of creating a website that can be used by disabled veterans (and of course others with like disabilities). Two sections of the site I was wanting to setup voice recognition to integrate with a pandorabot that would have a knowledgebase of the VA system and veterans could speak their queries and the bots voice would provide the information to them. Another area of the site I am planning for kids with like disabilities but would be an area where they could come have some fun with a fun pandorabot. Is this voice recognition feasible to do? I have Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional but have been trying to figure out how to integrate with the pandorabot. Any advice or direction I can get would be very much appreciated.
This is going to be a long project but a hobby of mine to pass the time and feel that this will give me more experience working in the web world. I am also looking into the W3C standards needed to provide a site that observes as many features for the disabled that I can come up with so if anyone has any other ideas that would also be very much appreciated.
Just thought this would be a good way for me to give back to the community and those who have served.
Thanks,
SSGT Jerry G
