Thanks Seth -- was able to manually add ip address/route through ifconfig and get on the wired network and just downgraded NetworkManager, NetworkManager-gnome, and NetworkManager-glib. they got installed, so I'll see if that fixes the issue. Also, thought about doing a 'yum --enablerepo='updates-testing' list updates' to see if the updated NM is in the testing repo.

If you can get yourself back online - you might think about trying:

yum downgrade NetworkManager
