Great news. Thanks for testing it and thanks for sharing.

That's disappointing. Your attitude about Win7 has been my attitude about Vista all along. I was hoping that Win7 would be a useful upgrade from WinXP.

It may be for you - everybody's needs are different. I want an efficient, uncluttered work environment which is why I turn off all eye candy on Ubuntu 9.04. Having windows fade or wiggle away takes extra seconds and, in my opinion, adds no useful functionality. Windows-7's GUI is similar to Compiz's basic eye candy, wherein windows rapidly tilt and fade away. Microsoft doesn't seem to provide a way to turn off this eye candy, so every action takes just a tiny bit longer than in XP.

One useful featute is when you move your mouse over an item down in the task bar, a miniature image of the page pops up above it and if you move the mouse over the miniature, a larger image of the page pops up. Cute - but not all that useful for how I use a machine.

Most of Vista's "are you authorized?" pop-ups are gone, which is a blessing.

Basically, Windows-7 is an attempt to make Windows look more like  MAC-OSX. Even the wait icon has changed from an hourglass to a very close copy of Mac's spinning circle. I guess that I am not their targer customer - if I wanted a Mac, I'd buy a Mac.

The bottom line, however, is that Windows-7 is visually like a cross between Vista and Mac-OS and will do what most people want it to do, so given the fact that MicroSoft will have it preloaded on all new machines means that it will ultimately be successful. The Vista name has gone to where Edsil resides and the negativity along with it.

That's disappointing. Your attitude about Win7 has been my attitude about Vista all along. I was hoping that Win7 would be a useful upgrade from WinXP.
