Hi,

Most of the cameras I have supported are in the $15 to $20 price range, in
the United States. Indeed, most of them were bought from the discount
shelves at places like WalMart.

However, I do not know at all what is on the market in Brazil. So perhaps
you would be better off if there is someone local who knows something
about what is currently available in the local market.

Here is what happens:

The cheap cameras tend to be generic and to come under many different
shapes and sizes, also under many different brands and "models" even if
the electronics inside are basically identical. I am quite sure that there
are lots of different brands and models of cameras which are already
supported by one of my several camera drivers in libgphoto2, and I have
never heard of that camera and I do not know that it exists or is for
sale. This becomes even more true if the camera is being sold in some
place which is far away from me, such as Europe, South America, Australia,
India, or so.

At the same time, there are some cameras recently sold in the USA which I
have not much luck at all in supporting.

A good place to start would be to look at the output of

gphoto2 --list-cameras

and to see if there are any matches from that list. But once you get off
that list, then, unless you can get some good local advice, I am sorry
to say it is still a matter of chance.

I have had contact with one or two people from Brazil over the years. But
I have no idea if anyone has bought any cameras recently, so I am not
able to give more detailed advice.

Possibly, if you go to any place where you can buy a cheap camera, you
might get something that works, especially if you do not pick the one
model which just came into the store.

Good luck, and let me know what happens, if anything.
