I use a HDMI to DVI cable to view my laptop on a monitor, i'm sure there were HDMI to Analog as well, i got mine at my local computer store, http://www.comwiz.net.au/shop_item.asp?StockCode=CBL-LEM-200-0770-2 , thats the product there, and then you could possibly use a DVI to analog converter.

when you say rgb, what connection do you mean? If you mean the three coloured cables, it's component which isn't actually rgb, and doesn't have a converter. The component cables for the ps3 use the analog video out on the machine, not the hdmi port.
Easiest way would be to find a laptop with an alalog video out. Converting hdmi to analog doesn't really exist, at least from what i've seen.

I have HDMI-out on my laptop and I want to export some animations and videos to my hard drive recorder.

Does anyone know of an HDMI to RGB cable?  I think perhaps the PS3 has one, but I don't to buy it just in case it has some proprietory wiring and doesn't function like a normal HDMI cable.

In general the answer I get is WHY?  Why would I want to degrade the image? Well because I just want a low res copy (720 x 576) of the videos to record easily on my domestic HDD recorder and send to my parents.
