Just wondering. If your host system is Ubuntu, then why choose Fedora for
hercules? Wouldn't Debian be a more logical choice? That would for
example give you the same package management system...

Did you set up routing for the network traffic from/to hercules on your
*host* system? See for example (look for "Set up iptables"):
