The x10.basic schema http://xplproject.org.uk/wiki/index.php?title=Schema_-_X10.BASIC is similar. If you use that as a model you would only define a single schema for Insteon. That one schema can be designed to support all the protocol functions. You could break up the design into multiple parts so other implementations don't have to support the entire thing. That way the schema supports the complete Insteon protocol and the xPL namespace and documentation is consistent. This might be better from an xPL view point but not sure about an Insteon or MH view points. You could define insteon.basic to handle functions and insteon.raw to pass in raw data. I would guess the only reason for a .raw class of service would be an incomplete design of insteon.basic.
